Set in the basement of a small evangelical church in southeastern Idaho, The Harvest follows a group of young missionaries in their final days before leaving for the Middle East, focusing on one young man grappling with grief, faith, and an uncertain future. The scenic design creates a confined, realistic church basement that is layered with subtle symbolism, using worn furniture, handmade posters, muted blues and grays, and asymmetrical elements to reflect emotional isolation and inner conflict. Informed by on-site research, the space balances lived-in authenticity with metaphor, transforming the basement into a psychological landscape where textures, light, and objects mirror the characters’ search for meaning, loss, and direction.
